Abstract Submission Guidelines, Policies and Instructions

GEST 2020 invites researchers from around the globe to share their work with peers and industry. All submitted abstracts will undergo a blind peer review for quality of research, educational or scientific content, logical presentation and impact on healthcare. All accepted abstracts will be displayed as digital posters or presented orally at GEST 2020.

Accepted abstract presenters will receive 50% discounted registration. In addition, the top 3 poster abstracts will be awarded a trophy by the research committee. The top 6 oral presentations will present in the main plenary session where the top 3 will receive a CASH prize of:
1st – $5,000
2nd – $2,500
3rd – $1,250

Date change notice: If you received approval to present your abstract in the form of an oral presentation or digital poster, the approval is still valid for the new dates in September. Please notify us via email at if you wish to withdraw your abstract.


All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the official GEST 2020 abstract submission website. Paper or emailed abstract submissions will not be accepted.


Notifications of abstract acceptance or rejection will be emailed to the abstract submitter in early February 2020. Please check spam filters or junk folders for notification emails. It is the responsibility of the abstract submitter to relay all correspondence to abstract authors. Authors whose abstracts are selected will be responsible for travel and accommodations but are eligible for a registration discount. (Please see registration discounts below)


Author(s) are required to complete a financial disclosure when submitting an abstract. Industry cannot be presenters if the content of the abstract relates to the business lines and products of its employer.


The author must affirm that the material herein is his/her own and that it will not have been published as a manuscript prior to presentation at the GEST 2020. Also, authors must affirm that if this abstract has been presented previously, the meeting location and date are identified. Abstracts previously presented, accepted for presentation, or submitted for presentation at any other meeting may be submitted for presentation. However, if another professional organization has publication rights to the work, the work cannot be submitted to GEST 2020 unless the author obtains a written waiver from the other professional organization.

Details concerning registration discounts will be provided in the acceptance notification.

  • Upon receipt of abstract acceptance, authors are asked to register to attend GEST 2020 within two weeks. GEST will not hold or guarantee space for presentations until the author’s registration is confirmed.
  • Authors are responsible for all expenses associated with travel and accommodations.


  • Once logged into the online abstract submission portal, click ‘Join Now’ to begin your first submission.
  • Complete account profile, moving forward you will be the contact person for all information that is submitted using this account. An email will be sent to the submitted email address, providing account details and personal information submitted.
  • Begin a new abstract submission by clicking on the green text that reads “Click here to begin a new abstract”.
  • Submission Settings: Enter Abstract Title – please type your abstract title in all Proper Case, title should not exceed 120 characters, including spaces. Use a short, specific title indicating the nature of the investigation. Avoid the use of abbreviations in the title.
  • Complete Required Task List – complete each task that is shown in the system. A task will show up with a green check mark when fully completed. If the task shows up with a red X, the task is incomplete. Incomplete abstracts will not be considered. Once all tasks are complete, click “Submit Abstract.”
  • Important Notes
    • Abstracts must include the sections listed below. Do not re-enter the abstract title or the authors’ names/institutions. And do not enter images or tables in the text portion of the submission

      • Results
      • Conclusions
    • The total maximum character count is 2,500 characters (i.e. including images and tables).
    • Upload Supporting Tables/Documents – Each graph or table counts as 450 characters. The total abstract length cannot exceed 2,500 characters. Therefore, if your total character count after completing the abstract portion is 2,000 characters, you would be limited to 1 graph or table as your new total would be 2,450 characters.

    • In addition to a poster display you may choose to have your abstract considered for an oral presentation at GEST 2020. Abstracts selected for oral presentation will not be presented as a poster display.
